Legislative assessment of the promises and announcements by the authorities
Status: Activo
Encargado del proyecto: Manuel Arís Alonso
About the project:

The general goal of “Del Dicho al Hecho” was to report on the progress of the legislative on issues promised by the President of Chile during his campaign and his yearly speech. The content of the site is carefully crafted in the most simple, coherent manner to explain the inherent complexity of parliamentary monitoring. Using visualizations, summaries, indexes, tables and a less technical language than the legislature, we created a space where the majority (rather than the political minority) could evaluate what has been done and what not, what has been moved forward and what has been postponed. This site demonstrates the need for tools that promote the fulfillment of promises and work against political irresponsibility. FCI actively promotes what in Chile is known as “the program vote”, where citizens focus on the promises or “programs” of the candidate rather than the person. Thus, citizens are able to hold politicians accountable to promises they made.

perspectiva de incidencia

"Del Dicho al Hecho" evaluates legislative material in relation to the promises of political authorities in Chile. The analysis evaluated the performance of the Government's programs and the yearly presidential speech on the 21st of May. With this, we emphasize the importance that our political representatives respond to the promises they make during campaigns, and that their projects in office are directed to accomplish those promises. This is both an exercise of citizen investigation and inquiry as well as a demand for the creation of mechanisms that facilitate holding politicians accountable for their promises and actions.

Perspectiva de redes y comunidad

"Del Dicho al Hecho" invites citizens to actively participate and analyze the site and content vía an open blog system. Comments on the site are enabled on all pages, but users often have opinions that are more elaborate comments, or even reaction papers or detailed analysis. That's why we've created a space in this site where civil society can have their say on the issue of fulfillment of the promises and programs. The influential leaders of opinion, other organized groups, analysts, and ordinary citizens can interact with this report, contributing to the conversation.

perspectiva técnica

The visualizations summarize complex data, in order to be more easily understood by all users. In each screen, there are shots of the progress of the Government Programme and the announcements on 21 May. We divide the information so that each screen generates value in itself, to spread in parts and generate an important dynamic in the readings.
